Watering Eyes for no reason?

While ghk says everything is a meaningful biological response.

1. Tear Glands (Lacrimal Glands)

Constant tear production / watering eyes

GHK Conflict:

A “visual morsel conflict.” (Learning GNM)

The tear glands are endoderm-derived and, in LearningGNM, are linked to the biological theme of a visual morsel.

Right tear gland

“Not being able to catch a visual morsel.”

Examples:

  • Not obtaining something greatly desired.
  • Missing an opportunity.
  • Wanting to “take in” something beautiful or important but being unable to.

Left tear gland

“Not being able to eliminate a visual morsel.”

Examples:

  • Being unable to get an unpleasant image out of your mind.
  • Witnessing something disturbing.
  • Seeing something you wish you had never seen.
  • Feeling unable to “unsee” a traumatic event.

Conflict-active phase

LearningGNM says the tear gland enlarges and tear production increases, leading to constant watery eyes. (Learning GNM)

2. Tear Ducts (Excretory Tear Ducts)

If the tear ducts are involved, the conflict is different.

GHK Conflict:

“Wanting to be seen.”

or

“Not wanting to be seen.” (Learning GNM)

Examples:

Wanting to be seen

  • Feeling ignored.
  • Feeling invisible.
  • Not receiving attention.
  • Feeling overlooked.
  • A child longing for a parent’s attention.

Not wanting to be seen

  • Wanting to hide.
  • Fear of being exposed.
  • Embarrassment.
  • Fear of being caught.
  • Wanting to disappear.

During the conflict-active phase, LearningGNM states that ulceration of the tear ducts widens them, increasing tear flow and producing teary eyes. (Learning GNM)

Questions for Case-Taking

If someone has constantly watery eyes, explore:

Visual morsel

  • What have you recently seen that you cannot forget?
  • Is there an image that keeps replaying in your mind?
  • Is there something you desperately wanted to see happen but didn’t?
  • Is there something you wish you had never witnessed?

Visibility

  • Have you recently felt ignored?
  • Do you feel nobody notices your efforts?
  • Do you wish someone would finally acknowledge you?
  • Are you trying to hide from someone?
  • Do you fear being judged if people truly see you?

Laterality

For tear ducts, LearningGNM also considers:

  • Biological handedness
  • Mother/child vs. partner relationship

to determine whether the right or left eye is predominantly involved. (Learning GNM)

Chronic Watering

According to LearningGNM, if watering becomes chronic, it may indicate repeated conflict relapses (“tracks”), where reminders of the original conflict repeatedly reactivate the biological program before healing is completed. (Learning GNM)

For facilitator work, I would therefore investigate three levels:

  1. The original unexpected visual event (“What did you see—or fail to see?”)
  2. The emotional meaning (“What did it mean to you?”)
  3. The tracks (“What keeps reminding you of it today?”)
